“The revolution that Jesus proclaimed was, as we have seen, good news of God’s love to the needy and bad news of God’s judgement to the comfortable and complacent. But what did joining the Jesus revolution mean in practice? We have already had many hints of this, for example in the parable of the sower with its picture of fruitful crops, in the parables about the end with their call for faithful service to the absent master, and in the parables on wealth with their warnings about a selfish and worldly lifestyle. But a number of other parables spell out more of what is involved.
Several of Jesus parables make it clear that joining the revolution means active commitment to the exciting work of the revolution. It means, in other words, living out and spreading the love and healing work that characterized Jesus’ ministry.”
